In 1996, Margaret began a transformative partnership with Dr. Patrick Bitter Sr., transitioning his practice from general dermatology to a specialized cosmetic center. By hiring nurses and aestheticians to deliver medical and aesthetic services in a spa-like environment, they conceptualized the foundation of the MedSpa industry. Margaret pioneered innovative marketing strategies that introduced Dr Bitter’s groundbreaking PhotoFacial procedure, a significant advancement in cosmetic dermatology. Their collaboration culminated in the establishment of Epi Center MedSpa in 1998—the first facility of its kind in the world, designed to offer a serene atmosphere for individuals seeking cosmetic treatments.
A trailblazer in environmental sustainability, Margaret transformed Epi Center MedSpa into the nation’s first LEED-certified MedSpa in 2008, earning accolades from leaders like former San Francisco Mayor and now Governor Gavin Newsom. Guided by the principles of renowned designer and author of Cradle-to-Cradle William McDonough, she champions eco-friendly practices while maintaining the organic essence and spa concept. An active community member, she participates in the San Francisco Ballet Auxiliary and the Vistage International CEO Group, while furthering her education with a Leadership and Strategy cohort at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Remarkably, Margaret also boasts a successful 16-year career as a competitive ballroom dancer, specializing in International Latin and American Smooth disciplines, where she achieved a national ranking of 5th place.
